Video Production:

ProcessSeva Journal serves nonprofit organizations by making short films to tell their stories. By working with volunteers and professional filmmakers, Seva Journal will be able to produce films at a fraction of the cost of commercial production houses. Here is a brief summary of how Seva Journal will successfully work with a non-profit organization to create a film together.

  • A non-profit organization contacts Seva Journal Team with a request for a film.

  • Seva Journal contacts non-profit to discuss their film requirements and creates a Proposal, including strategy, timeline, and cost estimate, for their (nonprofit) approval. The signed proposal officially starts the project.
  • Once approved, a short Film Plan is created by Seva Journal for the movie, which fine tuning the messages, timelines and strategy, and the film moves through its initial stages.

  • Scriptwriting begins with input from the nonprofit team for key messages and positioning. A final script or storyboard is created by Seva Journal, with input from their team, and is submitted for their approval prior to filming.
  • Filmmakers/Producers/Director from Seva Journal plans and films the shots, including key executive interviews and, frequently, a showcase location or event.

  • The film is edited by Seva Journal and reviewed with the nonprofit team for review and approvals. A couple of rounds of editing are not unusual. When the nonprofit group approves the final cut version, the project is considered complete.
  • Final film would be given in a DVD or any other format requested by the non- profit.

Time line:

  • Total running time of each film would be approx less than 10 minutes.
  • Each film project takes typically 2-3 weeks from start to finish, usually with several members on the Seva Journal film team.

Production Team:

  • Crew-members to shoot films for non profits would be selected carefully. Priority would be given to passion to tell a good story as well as technical capabilities.
  • Seva Journal Team would make sure that each production team finishes their project on time and to the satisfaction of non profit.

Budget:

  • A small economical budget would be put forth for the films shot within Mumbai. This Budget has to be borne by the non-profit.
  • If a film is requested from a non-profit located out of Mumbai, a separate film plan and budget can be made for them.
  • Budget includes all cost of camera equipment, editing facilities and filmmaker’s fee.
